Competition Rules

Scarecrow Competition Guide

  • Scarecrow creations must be G-rated and family friendly
  • To be eligible for a prize your Scarecrow must be registered and located on the official Trail
  • Scarecrows can be made from any materials.  A touch of hay or straw is encouraged
  • Child-entrants must be school-aged with minimal adult assistance
  • First time in field entrants must never have entered the Festival before.  Other categories can be entered if preferred.
  • Country Cousins – entrants located off the Mountain
  • Display your Scarecrow’s name and rego number clearly on your Scarecrow

Please ensure your Scarecrow is safely made, secured and placed in a safety conscious position for viewing by both pedestrians and from vehicles.

Ensure your Scarecrow is on the trail ready for judging by 9am on Friday 30th October.

Tamborine Scarecrow FestivalThe Manor Tamborine Scarecrow Festival Poetry Competition
Rhyming or unrhyming, limerick or sonnet, put pen to paper and compete in the annual Scarecrow Festival Poetry Competition. Recitations will be performed in the Leo Room at St Bernards Hotel on Saturday 24th October 2:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded by guests' votes, everyone is welcome!

Senior Prizes:

  • Winner: Certificate + $100
  • Runner-Up: Certificate + $50

Judging will take place at St Bernards Hotel in the Leo Room at 2:00 pm on Saturday 24th Oct and the chosen finalists will be invited to recite their poem at the Festival Presentations at Cauldron Distillery on October 31st.
